6. Claire Danson - Team GB Handcyclist following Spinal Cord Injury

In June 2019 Claire Danson was a successful triathlete, winning 1st place in her age group at the European triathlon championships.
2 months later, her life changed forever, when whilst out on a training bike ride,  she was involved in a horrific collision with a tractor.  She was left with multiple significant injuries, but most notably of her spinal cord which left her paralysed with no movement or sensation below her belly button.
Unable to speak from her hospital bed but as soon as she was able to communicate via touch pad, Claire spelt out the word ‘Para athlete’.
In the 3 years since the accident, Claire has been working hard on her rehab and training including achieving accomplishments such as cycling from London to Paris for charity, learning to sit ski in Colorado and taking part in an ironman in Turkey.
Amazingly, she has now been selected to represent Great Britain on the British Cycling team as a hand cyclist and in this conversation she shows such bravery, positivity and determination that you can't help but be inspired.
