5. Louisa Clein - Actor & daughter of a Holocaust survivor

In this conversation we speak about the fascinating topic of inherited trauma. Louisa shares some fascinating insights about her family's history and recounts how being the daughter of a Holocaust survivor has impacted her as she's grown into the successful actress and mother that she is today.

Louisa made her television debut in 2001 in the popular program, judge John Deed. Over the subsequent years, she's graced our television screens in a number of well known shows, including Casualty, Holby City, Doctors, and Midsummer. In 2018, she accepted the role of the controversial character of Maya in Emmerdale, which won her much acclaim and even an award for Best Bad Girl at the Inside Soap Awards.

Louisa is also a very well respected theatre actor, having starred in a number of critically acclaimed plays, including the Railway Children, which I remember thoroughly enjoying. She has just finished a run of Jews in Their Own Words at the Royal Court Theatre, a play which used verbatim interviews to portray antisemitism in the UK, which as we explore in this chat, was particularly relevant to her as the daughter of a Holocaust survivor.
